Issue #1 - September Issue #2 - December Issue #3 - March Issue #4 - June Volume #1 - Issue #1 was published shortly after the society was formally organized in 1978 and the stated purpose of the quarterly was: To educate and instruct by the collection, preservation, publication and distribution of Nebraska records of a genealogical value. To encourage accuracy and careful documentation of materials submitted for publication. The inaugural issue was edited by Mrs. Ann Maxfield. NewBrassKeyNewBrassKey is the society's newsletter. Like the Nebraska Ancestree quarterly, NewBrassKey was started shortly after the society was formally organized in 1978. The newsletter is primarily used to publish "current event" items to keep our membership informed of things that are happening in the society and with the Board of Directors. The minutes of the board meetings are published as well as conference details. Currently the NBK is added as an insert to the Nebraska Ancestree issues. The first NBK Editor was Mrs. Margaret White. Originally the NBK was published 10 times a year, but is now published quarterly. Cover Photo PolicyBeginning with Nebraska Ancestree volume 32, issue 1, you’ll notice a picture on the front cover. We are really excited about this new feature and we anticipate a flood of participation by our members. With that in mind we have outlined our policy below, please use it as a guide before submitting photos for publication.
1. Photos must come from an NSGS member to be considered for publishing. 2. The focus of the photo must be of people. We won’t publish farm scenes, pictures of buildings, automobiles, etc. 3. Majority of the people in the picture must have lived in Nebraska at some point in time. 4. The identities of the people in the picture must be known and listed. 5. The photos must not be under copyright protection or a signed copyright release must accompany the photo. 6. Photos that are accompanied by a story will be given preference. Photos and stories can be e-mailed, but a high resolution scan is imperative (600dpi or better). 7. Original pictures and stories will be returned to the owner after they have been published. 8. If you are unsure about anything, contact the Editor before you submit your story and/or photo. |
